Jayant is experienced in commercial litigation and arbitration across several jurisdictions. He has significant experience in shareholder, construction, telecom, energy, and pharmaceutical disputes — both domestically and internationally.

He has acted as counsel in several arbitrations (seated, among others, in New Delhi, Geneva, Singapore and Muscat) conducted under a variety of institutional rules including the ICC Rules, LCIA Rules, SIAC Rules and SAROD Rules. Within India, he has acted for private individuals and corporations before the courts and tribunals in New Delhi, including the Indian Supreme Court. 

More specifically, he has extensive experience in large construction disputes representing both Owners and Contractors across a wide range of projects, including bridges, roadworks, and powerplants. Those have involved FIDIC Contracts and bespoke construction contracts.

Jayant previously worked for several years at leading law firms and counsel practices in New Delhi, Geneva, and Paris. 

Highlights

X (India) v. Y. (India): Acted for the Indian government in an arbitration (SAROD rules, seated in New Delhi) relating to the construction of certain sections of a transnational highway.

X (Switzerland) v. Y (Iraq): Acted for a Swiss tobacco manufacturer (ICC rules, seated in Geneva) relating to the termination of a distribution agreement in the MENA region.

X (India) v. Y (India): Acted for an Indian aviation company (LCIA rules, seated in New Delhi) in a shareholder dispute between promoters regarding related party transactions.

X (Norway) v. Y (Oman): Acted for a Norwegian energy services provider (ICC rules, seated in Muscat) pursuing its indemnification claim in relation to the construction of an oil refinery.

Cruz City 1 Mauritius Holdings (Mauritius) v. Unitech Limited (India): Acted for Cruz City, a Mauritian investment fund, in enforcement and execution proceedings (Delhi High Court and Supreme Court) of an LCIA award relating to the exercise of a put option under a shareholders’ agreement.
